Spurs vs Gillingham: EFL (late) Match preview

Tottenham’s first EFL match of the 2016/17 season kicks off in just a few minutes and it is clear that Pochettino is taking no risks with injuries and is practically playing the youth team with a few first team regulars dotted around the bench and starting XI.  This game will see senior starts for Cameron Carter-Vickers and Harry Winks.  Contrary to “popular” belief, Kevin Wimmer AKA Big Kev is alive and in tonight’s starting lineup after recovering from a minor injury sustained at Euro 2016.

Gillingham’s manager Justin Edinburgh will return to White Hart Lane for the first time as a manager tonight after playing for 10 years for the Lillywhites.  The ex Spur left back will be looking to overcome their “Goliath” that is Spurs while Tottenham will be looking to continuing their scoring form as of late whilst being more clinical in front of goal.

Tonights starting lineup and subs bench is as follows.

Starting XI

Trippier Carter-Vickers Wimmer Davies

Carroll Winks

Lamela Onomah Eriksen (C)

Whiteman Vertonghen Walkes Wanyama Nkoudou Edwards Son

At a guess Pochettino’s subs (if he makes any) Wanyama for Carroll, Son for Lamela and/or Nkoudou for Onomah
